This day is the day on which we will come home. For the night we stayed at my mother’s brother Michael. The girls did not sleep with us in the camper anymore. In the evening before we said good bye to Micha, Raffaela, Matea,Klara and Hanna, because we started our drive early in the morning. The rest of the day we drove. and only took short brake. Our first stop was the monument called Walhalla. We parked our camper and walked to the Monument. The Walhalla is a hall of fame, that honours laudable and distinguished people in German history – “politicians, sovereigns, scientists and artists of the German language”. It looks like an ancient Greece temple and is staying high over the Danube.
We are were seeing this building for years, when we drove to Germany, because it can be seen from the motorway, but until now we never took the time to stop. We had a look around and made a lot of steps, but we didn’t go inside because of the large group of people waiting.
Because we still had 500 km more to drive we continued our way. For lunch we had a stop at a rest place called Landzeit. Here we cooked lunch and bought a small present for babi (sl. for grandma), who celebrated her birthday the same day as Hanna. In the evening, short bedore eight we finally reached Gotovlje. At home babi and dedi were waiting for us, as well as my aunt and uncle and their children. We came right in time for a big dinner and had a lot of expressions to tell.
After dinner, the most terrible part of the trip waited for us, we had to empty Calvin our camper, as we christened our “home away from home”. So we had to work still for circa two hours, feeling a bit melancholic because our trip was already over. It was close to midnight when we got to bed.
Next morning we retourned the camper, but the memories and experiences are going to stay with us for the rest of our life.
All together we drove 9912 km.
